A Mouse Goes To Round Top

Eliza is a mouse who goes to Round Top — and author Christie Jones Ray was along to chronicle her adventures.

Katie met up with Ray, outside the Pie Haven at Henkel Square, with Abbi Walker playing in the background. Ray, and Eliza the Mouse, will be at Pie Haven today (Saturday March 26) from 3-5 p.m. signing books.

Ray is a former school teacher from Franklin, Tenn. Eliza, the sweet mouse, has 13 — and counting — adventures that Ray has written about.

Mouse visits Round Top
Christie Jones Ray accompanied Eliza the Mouse on a trip to Rachel Ashwell’s The Prairie, along with a couple of side trips to the Round Top Family Library and Royers Cafe.

Ray’s visit to Rachel Ashwell’s The Prairie, and discussions with Ashwell and Ray’s exploration of the countryside spawned this new book: Eliza Visits The Prairie.

The story, illustrations and calligraphy are all done by the self-taught Ray. Books are available at The Prairie, at Pie Haven or online.

The book is “…dedicated to the little children who attended Story Time at Round Top Family Library and welcomed Eliza the mouse with open hearts. You are precious in his sight.”
