For Shanna Wozny of Belle Chambre Fineries, the foundation of most beautiful rooms is a set of “really pretty plates.” Many of the customers that walk into The French Kiss — Wozny’s charming cottage-turned-antiques showroom in Rutersville near La Grange — walk out with a set of vintage dishes.

“It’s like a cycle with each client,” Wozny explains. “They may start with a set of pretty plates, then come back for a commode, then a sideboard, and eventually we’re working on upholstery pieces and antique lamps. Before you know it, we’re pulling the whole room together.”

Wozny has been helping her clients build mahjong marathon-worthy ladies’ lounges for three years, having begun her journey as an antiques dealer at Marburger Farm Antiques Show. A life-long antiques lover, Wozny opened her by-appointment-only bungalow showroom in August of 2025 to provide a year-round shopping experience for her loyal following.

Known for stocking an abundance of Louis XVI-style sideboards, she has sold over 100 during her relatively short tenure in the antiques business. Traditional Louis Philippe commodes are her next best sellers, followed by upholstered antique seating.

“I source antique and vintage furniture and have my workroom reupholster the pieces in designer fabrics like Schumacher,” explains Wozny, who also carries a coveted selection of antique lamps. “When they cut the ribbon on my tent on opening day at Marburger, the lamps were the first pieces to go.”

Wozny’s 1,200 square-foot showroom has space to feature three of her favorite contemporary artists alongside her antiques. Works by painterly friends Candace Greer, Hilary McQueen, and Danielle Faulk grace the walls of The French Kiss, providing yet another layer of design.

Faulk will be creating a special series on “Hank” the bull, who resides in the cow pasture behind The French Kiss. “His real name is Elliot, but the customers call him Hank,” says Wozny.
