HGTV Visits Broken Road Farm in Round Top

HGTV will air an episode of the new series Extreme Buyers Club featuring Round Top-based Broken Road Farm Tuesday, August 18, 8 pm. The series, which follows house hunters in search of unconventional properties, documents the real estate journey of Broken Road Farm owners Sara and Greg Mires.

The Mires knew they had found the perfect property to breed their Highland cows and raise their family of five when realtor Caroline Wolff of Round Top Real Estate showed the couple a quirky house on 10 acres. Built by Round Top Home Builders founder Barney Reynolds and his wife Sue Reynolds in 2009, the home was constructed and decorated almost entirely with locally salvaged materials.

The Mires have spent the last several months clearing the land and adapting it for their business. The couple’s farm is home to a variety of animals including miniatures and rare breeds of chickens, cows, pigs, donkeys and goats. The family also hosts private events at Broken Road. “We’re creating a place for people to slow down, intentionally socialize, and reconnect with nature,” explains Sara Mires, a former corporate catering and events manager.
