We tried to start a small list of things to do, see, eat or enjoy during the Fall 2016 Round Top Antiques Show. We couldn’t stop with small. So here’s 36 Very Excellent Round Top Antique Show Things. With some George Strait song titles interspersed!

Eat a Steak: The Bar W Cafe, at Bar W Field in Warrenton, has steak night on Saturdays, Sept. 17, 24, Oct. 1.

Til The Cows Come Home: The businesses in Bybee Square in Round Top are rolling out the welcome mat with food, music and shopping. Most businesses will be open daily beginning Sept. 15.

Meet a Cat: Candy, the friendly cat, holds court on the porch of McCall Style, 102 Thigpen, Carmine.

Welcome Diane: Heritage Hall, 12401 E. Washington, Burton, is a brand-new antiques/gifts venue in a historic old hall. It opens Sept. 15 and will be open year-round on weekends.

Get Your Glass On: The Old Depot Vintage Market, 550 N. Washington St., Round Top, has about 10,000 square feet of glass—all kinds of glass.

Beckoning Burritos: While shopping is the name of the game, made-to-order breakfast burritos at North Gate Antique & Design Show, 3955 S. State Highway 237, Warrenton, can fuel your day.

Get Back to Your Roots: John Aspley at Antiques & Interiors, 2110 S. State Highway 237, Carmine, offers root furniture and sculpture. Let him tell you about the art.

Stomp on Some Wood: Antiques @ The Mill, 615 N. Main St., Burton, offers finds in an old-gin-turned-feed-mill. If those wood floors could talk….

Check out Miss Tootsie: Plan a trip to the Lexington Fall Antique Show & Sale, 9035 Hwy 77 N—and if there’s time on Sept. 17, have barbecue at Snow’s, where Miss Tootsie Tomanetz is the pitmaster. Get to Snow’s early. Saturday only.

Dream about Designing: The Compound, 2550 S. State Highway 237, Round Top, is the location of the first-ever Designer Dream Spree, the

interior design panel discussion masterminded by Julie Dodson and moderated by Traditional Home’s Ann Maine and Amy Elbert. 3 PM Sept. 26.

“Ain’t Nobody Here but Us Chickens”: Actually, the chickens moved out before McLaren’s Antiques & Interiors, 1745 N. State Highway 237, Round Top, moved in. But the barn is another example of repurposing at its most elemental level.

Donate & Park: Parking lots open at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4446 S. State Highway 237, Warrenton, on Sept. 17. A donation gets you a prime spot—and the home-made baked goods aren’t bad either.

Lumber Liquidated: If you look around the Carmine Trading Post, 248 Centennial, Carmine, you might find old lumber or other clues that let you know you are in a repurposed lumber yard. There is music and karaoke on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Creatives, Makers, Sisters & Dreamers: Led by Tara Royer Steele, The Gathering at Round Top beckons women for a social and faith-forward event, Sept. 22, 6PM, Henkel Square, $25.

Crafty, Handmade: Founded in 1970, the Round Top DYD Arts & Crafts Square Fair, offers crafts, homemade and handmade and boutique items. Washington St., Round Top, Sept. 22-Oct. 1; 10:30AM-???

Foodie Nirvana: Feasts in the Field at Rancho Pillow, 11222 Schuster Road, Round Top, is hosting a number of chef-prepared meals at their Feasts in the Field events (Sept. 25-Oct. 1.) Monica Pope cooks Sept. 27-29; 5:30PM

Segreto Finishes: Book signing with Leslie Sinclair, 10AM & 2 PM, Sept. 26, Arbor International Antiques & Interior Design Show, 1503 N. State Highway 237, Round Top.

Glamp It Up: Kaci and Sterling, at The Lone Star Gallery, 4212 S. State Highway 237, Warrenton, not only have shopping, a bar, a pool table and big screen televisions, they have glampers. The Glamper Inn has daily open houses from 1-3 PM Sept. 23-Oct. 1.

Texas Music on the Porch: Under ancient live oak trees, bring a lawn chair and listen to outstanding music at the Junk Gypsy World Headquarters, 1215 S. State Highway 237, Round Top. Show hours begin Sept. 22-Oct. 1. Artists and times TBA.

The Last Picture Show: The Rendezvous has hammocks—and cinema under the “starz” on select evenings between Sept. 23-Oct. 1.

White after Labor Day? It’s not a fashion faux pas to wear white at White Linen Night, Flown the Coop, Live Oak St., Burton, Sept. 24, 5-9 PM

Ask About the Beanie Weenies: No other clue needed or provided, but you have to go to Hodges Farm Antique Show, Kenney Hall, 444 Hall Road, Kenney, Sept. 27- Oct. 1, to get the whole story.

Stroll Sylvan: Unique Antiques, 138 E. Sylvan, and Carmine Antiques, 106 Sylvan and Carmine Train Depot & Museum, 248 Sylvan in Carmine are worth a stop.

“This is Where the Cowboy Rides Away”: With chuckwagons, western artifacts, cowhides and such, let loose your inner cowboy at the Cowboy Corner. 1925 Highway 237, Round Top.

River Oaks to Round Top: The newest venue to throw open its doors, near Hills Road, features antiques and Round Top Honey.

Delayed Glory: Designer Holly Kuhn is sitting out the Fall 2016 Round Top Antiques Shows as a vendor…but with the purchase of property in downtown Round Top, she has plans for an expanded presence in 2017.

By the Book: We’ve counted at least seven book signings during the show. From Townsend Provisions’ Ryann Ford’s book about American roadside parks to our favorite Gypsies, Amie and Jolie, who’ve finally put words to paper about their wandering business…Other names to remember: Neltje (at Leftover’s;)  Michelle Nussbaumer (Sept. 26, 4:30-5:30 p.m. at The Compound;) and Eve Michaels and Leslie Sinclair (at The Arbors.) Sinclair is also at Marburger Farm on opening day.
