No one has accused Eve Michaels of not having big dreams.

Michaels will sign copies of her book at the Arbor International Antique & Interior Design Show in Round Top on Sept. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. She will set up in artist Sally Bass’ space in Tent E.

She’s a businesswoman, author and speaker who counsels people on ways to improve their image. Formerly from Los Angeles, now based in Austin, Michaels’ latest book: Dress Code: Ending Fashion Anarchy is a motivational book about image that includes easy “how tos” for anyone to look their best.

Michaels sees it as her  personal mission to restore fashion sense and image pride to a society that may not understand that a casual approach to dressing could cost them professionally.

Michaels works with individuals, companies — and a professor of entrepreneurship — to help people dress for success.

Eve Michaels: Making America Beautiful in Round Top

“My campaign platform is to Make America Beautiful Again — one city at a time,” she said. “If you don’t have to dress up for work, then dress up for your kids, dress up for yourself, and if you can’t do that… do it for your country!” “We are the America everyone sees. How we look matters.”

“I started coming to Round Top about four years ago,” Michaels said. “I was very impressed — such a wonderful event. I am totally addicted to it now.”

As a Round Top veteran, Michaels has tips for Round Top shoppers, emphasizing that you can be cute and comfortable:

  • Be ready for challenging weather: think layers and hats
  • Be artsy: wear vintage cowboy boots, a flowing poncho and fun jewelry (if you don’t have any of those, buy them while you shop)
  • Keep your arms free: wear a cross-body bag

“Round Top is not the place for high heels or open-toed shoes,” she said. “The terrain is uneven and you’ve got to be able to cover lots of ground. Your feet will thank me for this recommendation.”
